Previously, we introduced you to our ceramic style vinyl floor tiles – the Ceramica range. In that brief overview, we hopefully sowed the seed of interest in taking the vinyl alternative to the natural stone flooring, and this week we will give you a few more details to help you to make the decision on your next surface.

There’s no doubt about it, ceramic flooring is a stylish option. Ceramic is built to last, providing an understated yet classy look that fits perfectly into all kinds of homes, from the country cottage to the town house, but it does have its drawbacks.

One of which is related to the material itself. Ceramic, when put under extreme stress, can crack. Once that happens you’re left with three options: firstly, to remove the offending tile and replace it. Second, to attempt to fix it yourself; and third, you live with it, putting up with the fact that one of your tiles is broken and hoping that nobody will notice – which they inevitably will.

Another similar problem is chipping. Sometimes the corners of the tiles can break off if someone steps on them at the wrong angle – something that can happen when it isn’t laid perfectly. At this point, your options are reduced to two – replace or make do. With the chip so small there’s no way you’ll ever repair it sufficiently – it’s just too fiddly.

The third problem is that the material emits cold. In homes where people are trying to save money they don’t want to be turning the heating on because a room is freezing cold, which tends to happen in homes with ceramic flooring. The ceramic doesn’t take in or hold heat meaning it is constantly cold and making the room cold, so you have no alternative than to turn the heating on. (Well, you do but you don’t want to be sitting at home in your hat, scarf, gloves and winter coat!)

So what’s the solution? You love the look of ceramic floor tiles and you’re not a fan of carpet or wood. That’s where the Ceramica range of vinyl flooring from Cavalio comes in, giving you all the benefits of ceramic, without the faults.

Complementing the colour scheme of any home, there are tiles available in all kinds of styles and colours, with eleven subtle and rich stone effect vinyl flooring tiles which even feature realistic grouting effects, giving you exactly what you want, without any of the potential problems that can arise with the natural alternative.

To find out more information on the Ceramica range, and any others for that matter, you can contact us and we’ll be happy to help.

No matter what style you lay down in your home, flooring needs a lot of TLC in order to maintain the same classy look it had when you first had it installed. Whether it’s carpet, real wood, ceramic or vinyl flooring, you need to look after it if you’re to get real value for money and to prevent any damage that could have been otherwise avoided.

Vinyl flooring is arguably the easiest to maintain in comparison to the alternatives, requiring very little work in order to keep it looking great, even in the high traffic areas of the home or business. However, because it’s different to what you may have had laid down in the past, it’s easy to make mistakes when you clean it. Here are a few of our top tips to protect your vinyl surface and keep it looking like new.

Wiping away any spillages with a damp cloth will prevent the marks from staining the surface. Warm soapy water and a typical household cloth, mixed with a little bit of elbow grease will have your floor spick and span in no time.

If you need to clean your whole floor, then giving the surface a thorough going over with a mop will bring it back to its best. Using professional quality vinyl floor cleaner will ensure that whatever product you use, you aren’t going to ruin the floor in the process!

To keep your vinyl flooring looking as fresh as it was when you parted with your hard-earned cash, use a vinyl floor polish to keep the shine and provide a layer of protection. This will make it even simpler to remove any spillages and prevent them from getting into the vinyl.

Regularly vacuuming your floor, particularly the high traffic areas, will make sure that dust does not get into the joins between the vinyl tiles. However, you must ensure that you’re very particular with the attachment you use on your vacuum. One that has sharp edges could potentially scratch the vinyl tile and spoil the look, so make sure you take care with your cleaning, otherwise your routine spring clean could turn into a large and unnecessary expense.

For more advice on protecting your vinyl flooring, and for the latest styles in the Cavalio range, keep checking back to our site. In the meantime, should you have any questions about the range of flooring tiles, cleaning products or anything related to vinyl flooring, feel free to contact us and we will be happy to answer your question.

At Cavalio, we are proud to bring you the very latest vinyl flooring styles, helping you to transform the look of your home. Recently, we gave you an in-depth profile of our Artigo range of rubber flooring. The next installment of our range guides focuses on our Ceramica products, giving you that real stone effect, without the drawbacks of the natural alternative.

For a lot of homeowners, having natural stone flooring is out of the question for a number of reasons. These range from having young children, making solid stone flooring hazardous to their safety, to the cold emitted by the tiles into the home, forcing those living there to turn on the heating or put on a lot of layers.

Fortunately, the Cavalio range of Ceramica vinyl floor tiles takes away a number of these disadvantages, making them a perfectly feasible option for any home. Vinyl gives a combination of style, easy maintenance and choice, so that you can have your favourite flooring in your home, without any of the disadvantages.

A big disadvantage associated with ceramic flooring is that it can be prone to breaking or chipping. This leaves the floor looking untidy and spoils the effect you’ve strived so hard to achieve. With the vinyl alternative, you don’t have to worry about it breaking, and with it being so easy to maintain you can repair any slight damage.

Another issue is when they get wet. Due to the solid nature of the material, water cannot seep into it like it can be with wood and carpet, so it tends to simply sit on the top of the ceramic until it evaporates, which can be a long time depending on the temperature in the room. If you have this kind of flooring in your kitchen or living room, then you will find that the risk of slipping over and dropping whatever is in your hand are increased. With the vinyl alternative, the moisture is easily wiped up and you don’t need to worry about falling.

In our next edition of the profile into the Ceramica range of vinyl flooring options from Cavalio, we will take a closer look at the advantages on offer from vinyl alternatives to ceramic tiles, as well as giving you details on all of the different styles in our range. Until then, should you have any questions about the Ceramica range, or any others for that matter, feel free to contact us and we will be happy to help.

Last time, we began a profile about our Artigo range of flooring, aiming to bring you all the details you could possibly need when it comes to choosing your next floor for the home or workplace. This week, we bring you the second installment, featuring all of the positive factors, including the durability, maintenance and styling.

Another pull factor for families is the ability of the surface to absorb noise. Inevitably with young children upstairs in their bedrooms, they are going to run around, throw things and generally make a massive racket. However, with a surface such as the Artigo range, the noise is cushioned and therefore reduced, allowing the parents to continue with their household chores while the kids play upstairs.

Whilst ceramic flooring might look nice, it can be treacherous when it gets wet, holding the water and causing people to slip over. With the rubber alternative, it is absorbed or wiped away, making it perfect for any home. The nature of the material also provides a form of grip, making it much easier to walk along, removing the potentially slippery nature of some surfaces – I’m sure everyone has slipped slightly on a wooden floor in their socks at some point – well rubber alleviates this issue, a real bonus in hospitals for instance.

Best of all, it is so easy to maintain and comes in a variety of styles. Taking the customer into account, rubber flooring tiles are produced in all kinds of colours and styles, ensuring that the right colour and pattern are available for children and adults, making it perfect for every home. Rubber is very easy to clean, often requiring as little as a damp cloth or a mop and some soapy water to remove dirt and stains. It is certainly easier to clean than carpet, which can be ruined by a small spillage.

For more information on the Cavalio range of Artigo flooring tiles, give us a call today on 01782 569840 or leave us a message using our online contact form and one of our staff will respond to your query as soon as possible.

Choosing a new floor can be hard work. With so many different materials, sizes, colours and thicknesses to choose from, many people are overwhelmed and end up sticking to the flooring they already had because they don’t know whether they’re getting a great deal on a brilliant new floor, or being charged over the odds for something that won’t last. At Cavalio, we aim to bring you only the finest luxury flooring tiles, and we like to ensure that our customers are happy with their choices, which is why we’ve created this guide to the full range of products in our catalogue.

This week, we’re going to give you everything you need to know about our range of Artigo flooring, which offers trendsetting designs, with a long life – something every home strives for.

The Artigo range is actually the most recent addition to the Cavalio collection, and is a rubber alternative to the more traditional styles you’ll find in many homes and working environments. Homeowners and businesses have been crying out for this kind of flooring in recent years, with many choosing the numerous qualities over the wooden, carpet and ceramic alternatives.

While hospitals and other heavy-traffic industrial and commercial buildings were the initial guinea pigs when it came to rubber flooring, the material is now becoming more and more frequent. Its versatility and durability are just two of the key pull factors, with customers getting excellent value for money and a genuine long-term investment.

Due to its soft nature, particularly in comparison to wood and ceramic floors, the Artigo rubber floor tiles are particularly popular with people who suffer from lower limb injuries, providing them with added comfort when they walk. Similarly, it is the perfect choice for families with small children, because if they fall over they’re less likely to hurt themselves. Also, should they drop a plate or glass onto the floor, the chance of a breakage is reduced.

For the next installment of our Artigo range profile, come back to the Cavalio website soon. Until then, should you have any questions about the Artigo range of flooring, or any of our other products, then please get in touch with us by calling 01782 569840.

There can be a lot of upheaval when it comes to laying a new floor, with fitters making more mess than you ever thought was possible, and seeming to take all day to lay your new floor. With luxury vinyl floor tiles, you manage to not only save time with the installation, but there is almost no mess at all, with each tile going down individually as opposed to being cut to fit.

A lot of rooms can be particularly difficult to lay floors in, with walls sticking out into the room or uneven floorboards. This can make it difficult to lay certain floors, such as natural ceramic or wood, which need to be laid onto a flat surface in order to fix to the floor. With vinyl floor tiles, you can lay each tile individually, adjusting the position as you go, which makes things much simpler.

One of the most important factors associated with any flooring, is its durability. The surface can be used more than you would think over the course of a day, and can wear out in what seems to be no time in some cases. Carpet especially is vulnerable to looking tired and distasteful, and when wood and ceramic aren’t feasible options for whatever reason, (such as if you have young children or pets), then you find most people settling for carpet despite the obvious problems. What they don’t tend to consider is luxury vinyl floor tiles, which are strong enough to stand up to the challenges thrown at them, with a crowded house walking on them, pets claws and children’s spillages all easily managed.

Similarly, maintenance is also made easy with vinyl. If you spill something onto a carpet, it may never come out, ruining your expensive carpet. Wood can also stain and show burn marks if you put down or drop a pan, while ceramic floors and expensive china don’t really have a positive working relationship. Vinyl surfaces are easy to clean – as simple as a damp cloth in some cases – while a mop is your worst case scenario.

A lot of people base their choice of flooring on a number of circumstances – pets, children, value for money and so on – while others think about whether or not they can lay the same surface throughout their home, to avoid that mis-match effect. A home featuring carpet in one room, wood in another and stone in another can look quite untidy, prompting people to choose one type for the whole house. But can you do this with vinyl flooring?

Put simply – of course you can! The good thing about vinyl is that it is multi-purpose and comes in a variety of effects, giving you the look of all kinds of surfaces, but the feel of one. If you want a wooden floor but don’t like the noise associated with the planks, don’t worry because you can have the vinyl alternative, which looks just like the real thing, and the same applies with ceramic floor tiles. Many families cannot have stone floors because of having young children so they opt for something they don’t really want. With vinyl flooring, you can have your stone-like visual, but in a much softer material.

Vinyl provides the perfect option for every room in the house. In a bathroom, it provides a waterproof surface that won’t get damaged by getting wet in the ways that carpet and wood can be.

In the living room, you want something that looks stylish and is easy to keep clean. Wood and carpet can both be stained, and ceramic just doesn’t suit a lounge, but the vinyl options allow the homeowners to lay a surface which looks great and is easy to clean – as simple as wiping with a damp cloth or using a mop at worst – as opposed to having to get down on your knees and scrub the carpet if you spill something.

The kitchen is an area of the house which sees significant amounts of traffic, so you want a floor surface which is hard wearing and won’t wear out in 12 months time. Ceramic is an option, but as previously mentioned, not to those with young children. Wood can be good, but it can be damaged if you drop a pan, and the same can be said with a carpet, which would stain badly if you spill your pasta sauce, and wears out easily at the best of times. Vinyl flooring lasts much longer than its rivals and you can simply wipe away the spillages.

With numerous benefits for all rooms in the home, vinyl flooring is a popular choice for homeowners looking for an alternative to the traditional floor surfaces. The alternatives to vinyl, which are wood, carpet and ceramic, are all flawed, (excuse the pun), while the vinyl option eradicates these problems and still gives the homeowner the look they’re after.

Wooden floors look great, but they can be very noisy and reflect the sounds of the home. Initially you may be unable to find a problem with your wood, but over time it will start to creak, which doesn’t sound good to the others in the home, and if you have someone running on it it can sound like a whole rugby team is charging through your house in their boots.

Carpet is the warmest option available to homeowners, and the choice of many, but there are more problems with it than any of the others. Spillages can lead tough, often immovable stains in the material, permanently leaving dirty marks on your floor. It also gets very dirty very quickly, holding the dirt in the fabric and requiring regular hovering as a result.

While ceramic can look great, it simply isn’t practical if you have young children running around. The kids can fall over, as they’re prone to doing at a young age, and the ceramic won’t cushion the blow, prompting the inevitable tears and screaming. You also have the problem of breakages. Should you drop a plate or a glass onto a ceramic floor, you’ll be very lucky if you don’t watch it smash into pieces because of the solid surface.

With vinyl, you can have all the best features of the three surfaces, without any of the negatives. Vinyl flooring is durable, meaning that it won’t wear out over time, so you don’t need to replace it in two years time. It also means that should you drag any furniture around the home, like a chest of drawers or a kitchen chair, you won’t rip the surface.

Vinyl is also the easiest of all the options to clean. In the majority of cases, it can be as simple as a damp cloth, and at worst a mop and a bucket. Vinyl flooring is the best solution for a household with children around, with its easy to clean surface and blow-softening features.

Decorating your home can be a fulfilling experiment, particularly when you’re all done and dusted and you take a step back to admire what you’ve just done. Stylish wallpaper, classy curtains and beautiful lighting can transform the look of a home, but it’s the flooring that can make the real difference.

But how do you choose the right kind of flooring for your home? It’s not, unfortunately, as simple as popping down to your nearest retailer, buying a new surface, bringing it home and laying it, as there are a number of factors that need to be taken into consideration before spending your hard-earned money.

Here at Cavalio, we specialise in the very latest vinyl flooring technology for all kinds of homes, providing valuable guidance as to which is best suited to your home. As mentioned previously, it’s not as simple as going out any buying a new floor. One example of this is if you have children. You can’t go out and purchase a real ceramic floor because the kids are likely to fall over and hurt themselves, or drop something and smash it. But, you don’t have to rule out the ceramic option because we provide a stunning range of ceramic vinyl floor tiles which look just like the real thing and even includes the grouting effect.

You may choose to go for a real wood floor, which is very popular in homes around the country. However, this can be an expensive option which makes and reflects a lot of noise. This can get tedious after a while, particularly if you lay it throughout the house, making it sound like a bus load of people are coming down the stairs all at once. The Vittara, Terreni and Clic range of vinyl alternatives to real wood provide everything you want in a wooden floor, just without the noise. They even feature natural looking grains and come in a variety of sizes.

To find out more information about the range of vinyl alternatives to natural flooring, call Cavalio today on 01782 569840, where you can claim your free sample or ask our experts a question.

When it’s installed correctly, vinyl flooring can be a stylish, sophisticated and still functional addition to any bathroom or kitchen. However, it’s important to make sure that the installation itself is done well! Avoid making one of the following mistakes, and you should end up with the perfect floor.

Trimming too much. It can be tempting to trim the vinyl down to perfection before it’s rolled out, to save time. However, it’s a far better idea to cut it to a ‘rough’ estimate, and then do the final trimming once you’ve tested the space. This will save you cutting excessively, and ending up with not enough material – far trickier to correct than having too much!

Overcutting the flooring around objects. When fitting the vinyl around awkward items such as the toilet, always remember that you should cut whilst allowing some room for more trimming, much as you would for the corner of the room. That way, you’ll end up with a much neater, tighter finish, with the vinyl flooring almost clicking into place around the object.

Use the right adhesive. There are many different ways that vinyl flooring can be stuck down, and it’s important that you use the right one. Whether making use of adhesive specific to the job, or using the product that comes attached, always ensure you ask the experts before making the final attachment. You don’t want to be using the wood glue, that’s for sure!
